Where sportwear meets style, where function meets fashion, the sports luxe movement of recent seasons continues to inspire. The SS16 runways were awash with sports luxe influences; think bold, oversized shapes and mesh, as showcased by Marni and Alexander Wang. At Stella McCartney, we saw chic flatform sandals paired with shirt dresses and preppy polo shirts in checks and bright hues. Alexander Wang’s neat white trainers were teamed with luxe fabrics, from leather tops to satin slip dresses. With endless styling options, from chic minimalist to high glitz, sports luxe is a spring trend to embrace.

Sports Luxe

At Ted&Muffy, we’re channelling the trend through laid-back shoe and sandal designs using exciting textures from snake printed leather to glitter. Take Nimbus, the stylish trainer with modern pointed toe shape, available in snow white snake-embossed leather, ink navy glitter or black glitter. Alternatively, slip on the metallic slip-on Fenrir trainers for an injection of glamour. As the weather warms up, raise your game with a pair of flatforms like Stallion, with on-trend wedge, or Chimera strapped sandals, in a choice of strap colours.

Animal Instinct

Animal print: there’s no taming this fashion perennial. From leopard print to snakeskin, the Spring Summer ‘16 runways proved this trend is for all seasons. Versace revealed a wild side with a host of snakeprint looks, teaming snakeskin ankle boots with burgundy snakeskin dress and snakeskin bag, then taking striking lime and khaki green leopard print tones and pairing with matching backpack. Junya Watanabe walked on the wild side with leopard print and zebra print brogues, while Bottega Veneta was inspired by the great outdoors with a host of animal print looks; take the leopard print dress and tan suede jacket with leopard print clogs.

Here at Ted&Muffy, we’ve given this classic trend a luxe spin, using snake-embossed leather and touchable calf hair leather on our new ankle boot, shoe and sandal designs. For an ankle boot to bridge the gap between seasons, choose Medusa in snake print leather, or the opulent Mirage in leopard print hair leather. Animal prints work brilliantly for warmer weather too; see our Dragon sandals, crossing into sports luxe territory with their flatform sole or the Python buckled sandals with bold block heel.

Blue Monday

Breathtaking blues streamed down the runways for Spring Summer ‘16. Prada and Michael Kors featured electrifying shades in billowing gowns and sports inspired daywear to be worn with attitude. Whilst at Tory Burch, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana it was dreamy shades of pastel blue and stormy grey–tinged blues; think 50s ballgowns and baby boys. At Emillio Pucci sequin dresses in midnight blue sashayed down the runway. Even eyes were given the blue treatment with make-up artists at the shows reaching for a palette of sky, aquamarine, peacock and electric blue.

Whether you’re looking for a statement colour pop of colbalt or a demure navy, our SS16 collection has the perfect blue shoes and sandals. Start with Oriole fringed block-heeled ankle boots for a striking between-the-seasons style. Alternatively, look to Elphine slippers with lightweight heel for an effortlessly chic look, while the Faerie heeled sandal with their laser cut strap detail and delicate leather laces are a go-to for summer occasions. Add a matching suede bag fringed Banshee fringed clutch bag to complete the look.

Seventies

Seventies style influences continue this season, with endless interpretations of the trend seen on the Spring Summer ‘16 runways. There’s no denying the seventies have hit the high street in a big way, with suede starring as the hero texture. AW15/16 footwear collections were given the 70s treatment with block heeled knee-high boots in earthy shades and chunky heeled shoes as seen at Gucci, Marni and Stella McCartney. This season 70s fashion continued to inspire; from Gucci’s flowing lines and green lace dresses to Balmain’s lace-up sandals teamed with everything suede; from tan skirts, to suede leggings and jackets.

At Ted&Muffy, we’re channelling a sophisticated take on the 70s vibe with a smart take on boho, featuring quality suedes in classic tan and forest green, combined with 70s detailing of fringing and lacing; take Peacock sandals, in forest green suede with their 70s fringing and stacked heel. If you’re looking for flats, Scorpion gladiator sandals make a smart addition to summer. For a classic 70s shape, look to Nymph mules in black leather or tan suede, or alternatively choose Velveteen with wraparound ankle strap for a guaranteed swinging 70s feel.
