The DuoBoots Spring/Summer collection is here! You can expect ankle boots to see you through both work and the weekend as well as shoes and trainers perfect to transition into the new season. The collection incorporates a whole host of bright colours sure to lift your mood as well as your wardrobe. Most prominent is ‘Cassis’, a mature and rich purple shade which you are sure to be lusting after. Read on for more…

Pantone, the colour institute which provides trend forecasting, has named ‘Grape Compote’ as a key colour for 2020, which they describe as a composite of mysterious and mellow purple shades. The colour may look familiar, as it has evolved from ‘Orchid’ in 2017, to this year’s ‘Cassis’.

Historically cassis was an exclusive colour, only to be worn by royalty and the uber wealthy, due to the high cost of dying in this shade. The hue finally became more accessible in the 19th century as Chemist William Henry Perkin created a synthetic purple compound accidentally, which he soon patented and manufactured. The colour has an opulent feel, with brands using this shade to convey exclusivity. This is the reason the much loved Cadbury bar is purple!

Moving into present day, the colour is less regal yet still prominent thanks to its recognisable rich tone. Whilst here at DuoBoots we are style and quality led, this doesn’t mean we don’t nod to trends when we feel they have something great to offer to your wardrobe.

This is why for 2020, our designers have incorporated the shade into several styles. They have played around with the tones, so there really is something for everyone, including shades for all seasons and styles for all events.

Cassis in its various tones can appear daunting, as a rich and therefore stand out colour for which styling appears no mean feat. However, this need not be the case, as the colour works great with neutral and vibrant shades alike. It also can be feminine or masculine, making it the perfect alternative to a neutral.

Ludlow Mulberry Purple Suede

Ludlow Mulberry is our darker and more moody take on the trend colour. Featuring stud work on the sole and stitching detail on the upper, the boot will work for now and into the summer months thanks to the relaxed edge of its suede upper.

We suggest styling the boot with warm, complimentary colours mixed in with the mulberry colour as shown. This brightens up the boot for everyday wear. However, if you wanted to match the moody shade of the boot, darker styling never goes amiss.

Paragon Cassis Purple Nubuck

Our firm favourite Paragon, has been updated in time for the new year in the on trend cassis. The bespoke Chelsea boot with recognisable hand stacked leather heel works just as well for night as it does for day. When it comes to styling the boot, simply pick a colour from the heel, or go for a matching cassis shade and you’re good to go.

We have styled the boot two ways – for office and for party, to show its versatility. For office, we have paired the boot with a Victoriana smart blouse in the corresponding shade and an easy pair of darted tailored trousers which feature a paper bag waist. And for party, we have played with colour, cut and texture by opting for a bias-cut skirt and silky t-shirt style blouse. Dressy yet comfy to have you enjoying yourself into the early hours.

Miller Fuchsia Purple Suede

Miller, a mid-heel ankle boot with elasticated zig-zag detailing, is an elevated Chelsea boot sure to get you noticed not only due to the new bold shade, but also thanks to its standout black heel. We think this boot is a sure-fire winner for special occasions. It works equally well with skirts as it does trousers as it does all the talking.

As the colour is so daring, we have opted for a party look. By sticking to black, you can embrace the starkness of the heel and let the boot shine in the spotlight.
